DAN CARVALHO

 

Dan Carvalho has been a resident of Southern Nevada since 1979. He graduated from Whittier College in Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991. In 1995, he received his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law, wherein he was ranked in the top 20% of his class.

While in law school, he was the recipient of the prestigious American Jurisprudence Award in Torts. He also served as Senior Editor for the school’s Law Review. He is the published author of Dividing Community Property in an Equitable Division Jurisdiction- Nevada’s Confusion after McNabney v. McNabney, 30 Idaho L. Rev. 755 (Michie 1994).

Mr. Carvalho started the practice of law by serving as a judicial law clerk for Nevada State District Court Judge Donald Mosley in 1994. In 1995, he became an associate attorney at the prestigious civil litigation defense firm of Pico & Mitchell, and later became a partner of that firm. He is one of four founding members of the Rogers, Mastrangelo, Carvalho & Mitchell law firm.

Mr. Carvalho has significant jury and bench trial experience, and has tried to verdict many cases as both lead and co-counsel. His practice has been focused in the defense of catastrophic and other personal injury claims. He has handled everything from high-profile litigation that has been featured on NBC Dateline, and extensively followed by local journalists and television news, to smaller matters subject to the court annexed arbitration program.

Mr. Carvalho is also a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Membership in this distinguished organization is reserved for those trial attorneys who have through either jury verdict, or settlement, achieved recovery for their clients in excess of one million dollars. He is a unique member in having qualified for admission by both jury verdict and settlement on multiple ocassions.

Mr. Carvalho also serves as a court-appointed arbitrator for the Eighth Judicial District Court. He has represented a variety of insurance company clients in civil tort litigation including professional malpractice, legal malpractice, premises liability, negligent security, personal injury defense, product liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and related litigation. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, American Bar Association, and Clark County Bar Association.
